Shipwreck of the Mind

Impelled by the breath of an unknown Divine

This sailor of a thousand seas

Of life begins his charted course

To find at last his soul's release.

In a new and finer ship he sails

Seeking the land of his heart's desire,

On an ocean of infinity

Travels unsure of the inner fire.

Wave upon wave assaults his prow

Breaking upon his fragile frame

Lightning stabs his burdened breast,

Direction lost as lost his aim.

Adrift on the seas of ignorance

In the rudderless ship of reasoning mind,

Captain of this bodily craft

Trailing a wake of births behind.

Shipwrecked by the imperfect rhyme

And reason of the ego's rule

Run aground by incertitude

Thought's faulty compass, finite tool.

Awash upon the shores of time

The mental being founders here

Wed to a faulty paradigm

And the endless rivers of his fear.

He now must embark on a greater quest

For Godhead calls his immortal soul

To explore anew the unknown deeps

Of godhead and the sacred goal.
